Volunteering and science activism

On February 24th, 2022, our world changed. The #ScienceForUkraine initiative came into being just two days after Russia started the war in Ukraine. I initiated this effort as a Twitter account aimed at gathering support for Ukrainian scientists and students under the hashtag #ScienceForUkraine. Within a week, it had transformed into an international volunteer initiative, with over 100 individuals from 30 countries joining the cause. #ScienceForUkraine stands for compassion, collective strength, and a desire to help. Since August 2023, "Science for Ukraine" is a registered NGO based in Latvia; it is an honour for me to co-lead this NGO working alongside dedicated and talented allies.

You are welcome to read the three-month #ScienceForUkraine report here.

From 2020 to 2022, I had the privilege of serving as the Science Communication Officer for the COST Action Nep4Dissent (CA 16213). During this time, I was able to gain valuable hands-on experience in science communication, among other things. This included tracking and reporting on the latest developments within the dynamic research network, launching a "Blog4Dissent," conducting in-depth interviews with exceptional scholars, and similarly enriching activities. These experiences have been truly valuable and have added immense value to my skillset.
